Wishes for Beijing Olympic Games
It is really a happy time in my life that our country has held the Olympic Games. In these two weeks, every night when I went home, I would switch on TV and watch the games from one channel to another.
I was very glad when our athletes got the medals, from weight lifting to shooting, from gymnastics to diving, from volleyball to table tennis. But yesterday was the sad day not only to me, but to our whole nation. Our track and field star player Liu Xiang pulled out from the 100 hurdle competition. When I got the news, I just could not believe that, the first thought was that somebody played a joke on us, later there would be one piece of news saying the previous one was a rumor. However, thing went beyond my imagination. He really quitted the game, which shocked our whole country. Even our vice president sent the message to sooth Liu, hope he could screw up and get a better future.
Many comments spreaded across the country, somebody blamed Liu, but still most of us supported him. Even his sponsors reacted actively and changed their advertising style to support Liu. No matter what is reason, I can understand Liu's situation. He is bearing too much pressure, too much concentration, always under the staring of all the people. Sometimes too much concern will become the obstacle, Liu is not able to stride the hurdles made by 1.3 *2 billions eyes.
When I surfed on Yahoo, there were many complaints, whines even rumors, really ridiculous. They complained the judges had bias to American players, they discriminated our audience or volunteers could not understand English and waffled that some of our women players were men, and our diving athletes were robots. I felt confused that why they said like that. We had put all our efforts to hold a successful Olympic Games, many relative workers paid all their energy to serve for the game for the foreign guests. We know that even we pay 100% effort, we can not get the job 100% perfect, but we feel no regret to hold this event. We open our door to the outside, hoping the others who always are cheated or blindfolded by the media or the rumor. If you have not been here, just come and open your eyes to see clearly what the real China is and which kind of people we are. If I say here, we are full of hospitality, enthusiasm, generous, hardworking and persevering, you will think that you just put the gorgeous words in front of the title. They are not convincing, so seeing is believing! When you are personally on the scene, you will find out what I am talking about.
We like Phelps, Liukin and Shawn Johnson, and also the NBA stars, they have many fans in China, no matter how we are eager to see our players to win the games, we also give our warm applause to the players from other countries. If he or she can get the medals, they are great, but if they can not get, they are still great, since they are qualified to stand on the stadium, to show themselves.
Olympic Games is an international event, everyone has the responsibility to care for her, to give more strength and power to make her become excellent is our job. Just like the anthem singing ''we are family'', leave quarrels and complaints aside, what we need to do now is to enjoy the event and give our best wishes to all of our athletes, they are great!
